Sea trials have been conducted in Nagasaki Prefecture to test wideband sonar detection for subsea power cables. Hydrason’s WBS system was installed in a purpose-built module on MHI’s Naminow autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV).
The sonar data are being used for seabed classification and mapping as well as cable detection and tracking.
