Sonarbell Autodetection
Hydrason is working with Clearwater Hydroacoustics on autodetection software for their Sonarbell passive acoustic technology SonarBell is an omni-directional, fully passive sonar reflector that provides a strong and clear double echo return. No batteries or electronics are used in SonarBell, so it can be installed long term with no maintenance requirement.
Detection under Insulation
Building on previous detection work, Hydrason and Subsea 7 have been working together to demonstrate health monitoring for subsea pipelines through insulation coatings. Working with the Subsea 7 team in the ROV tank, Hydrason has successfully demonstrated change detection to accurately indentify the location of a hydrate simulant within an insulated pipeline.
Nagasaki Sea Trials
Sea trials have been conducted in Nagasaki Prefecture to test wideband sonar detection for subsea power cables. Hydrason’s WBS system was installed in a purpose-built module on MHI’s Naminow autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). The sonar data are being used for seabed classification and mapping as well as cable detection and tracking.
